Revision Notes Pt2

You give Thomas as a very prominent figure for Justine in both impactful events and motivation. While this may be the case, we're troubled by how this is presented as a healthy relationship for her. As it reads, Justine's indebtedness for his claiming her as property, her dependence on and inability to function without him at her canon point, and her singular focus on him as the motivating factor in her life show very little of her own choice and autonomy, and we would argue that this is in fact deeply unhealthy. Again, that might be what's presented in the canon, but again, we can't accept an application that leaves this unexamined.
At her current canon point her relationship with Thomas doesn’t appear healthy. However they have a lot of respect for each other and it is stated by the author in a panel interview that after everything they’ve been through they are both very happy. Of course the serious is at book 14 and Justine in this context is being taken from book 3. Thomas is a little bit of a nerd. He’s mentioned as being a hard core buffy fan as well as playing D&D and loving Lord of the Rings. It’s implied, specifically in Changes just before Thomas helps Harry that he’s shared these parts of himself with Justine. Their relationship isn’t just feeding or property but they’re friends too. They share interests and Thomas is a goof ball who makes her laugh.

It’s shown that later in canon she is able to grow past her dependency on him. When Justine is saved by Thomas she is very young, it’s mentioned that she’s in her teens but an exact age is never given, I’ve come to the conclusion that; given her age now, how long she’s been with Thomas and how she is described in canon, she had been 16 when Thomas saved her and she’s about 24 at her current canon point in Grave Peril. This is 8 years of her coming to rely on Thomas. The part that changes this and helps her develop is when Thomas almost kills her. This wasn’t mentioned in the application because it hasn’t yet happened.

Thomas manages to stop the starving demon inside of him but Justine becomes physically crippled and for a few months she’s confined to a wheelchair. At this point Justine is forced to start over, Thomas is kicked out of the white court and they are separated. She’s able to develop differently from this point and more of her base personality shines through. She doesn’t stop loving Thomas but she’s herself with her own wants and desires. It’s after this point that she’s able to separate her dependence on him for her love for him. It shows that it’s possible and given how Pines Memories can affect things, I plan to use this possibility and character trait when forming this alternate persona.

Justine comes off as fragile, docile and at times helpless.
This surprised us, as it seems so at odds with the character presented throughout the rest of the app. With her emotional issues, how is she able to appear fragile, docile or helpless when she has so little control over her volatility? In general, this section of the app digresses quite a bit away from others' impressions of her into her inner character, which does not answer the posed question. We would like you to rework your answer to this and the following question (on how these impressions differ) so that the information you provide is relevant under the section where it's given.
DELETED DUE TO RELEVANCE

Part of this impression is a hazy overlay that reflects in her eyes like a drug.
We would appreciate more information on this, as we find this description a little baffling. What is a "hazy overlay" and what is actually causing it if not drugs?
DELETED AND EXPANDED IN ANOTHER LOCATION THATS MORE RELEVANT

She is calm and logical.
This is again contradicting the rest of the app and the mental/emotional issues you described previously.
SECTION REWORKED

She has complete faith in herself and will not waver or back down when faced with a crisis or adversity.
This seems like something that should be included and expanded upon in strengths, since we don't feel this was mentioned or made otherwise apparent through the rest of the app. You provide an example, but you also say that she's "constantly facing adversity," and given what we now know about her it seems unlikely this is how she always handles it. A character can be multifaceted like this, but those aspects don't function independent of one another and we require some acknowledgment of that here.
SECTION REWORKED

She has an important mission but she won't know what that mission is. Please clarify what this mission is for our benefit.
CHANGED TO A SUBSET OF WHAT I WAS ORIGINALLY THINKING AND EXPLAINED IN SECTION

She fools vampires and those around her by sometimes believing her own lie.
We would like more information on this, as it's more new information without explanation. What do you mean by "believing her own lie"? You've also reiterated strengths from earlier in the app, but we're looking for physical and practical strengths here rather than emotional/mental ones.
DELETED ISSUE BY ACCIDENT.

We would appreciate if you rephrased "she's domesticated with extensive training in subterfuge by appearing hazy or unobtrusive," as we're unclear on what it is currently stating.
"In an effort to be more useful to Thomas, and to keep him safe from the vultures who want him gone from various courts, not just his own, Justine has learned to read lips, and to see and retain subtle information to be gathered by working a room at a party and does so silently by hiding in plain sight, using a drugged-up, hazy, and oblivious demeanor to appear unobtrusive."

Please consider having your app proofread for spelling/grammar mistakes before submitting your revised application.
